BIOGRAPHY

Orange Theatre is  contemporary performance ensemble based in downtown Phoenix, AZ. We make theater, video, sounds, music, and other things, both original and adapted. We try to make it good. We try to make it interesting. We try to make it happen.

Founded in 2010 by Matthew Watkins and Stephen Christensen, Orange Theatre was named for a play-reading group that met in a tiny apartment on Orange St. in Tempe, AZ. Our first production, Troilus and Cressida, was presented at the Phoenix Fringe Festival. As of 2016, we've produced ten shows, including five original works, and numerous workshop productions. We've won the Phoenix New Times Big Brain Award and Best of Phoenix Award, and twice been named to their Top 10 Plays of the Year. Our work has been presented at NACL Theater (NY), Phoenix Fringe Festival, Phoenix Center for the Arts, Levine Machine (AZ), Arizona State University, and our home theater, a 2000 sq ft performance space located in downtown Phoenix that we've run since 2014.
